Aleksandar Duravcevic’s YOUTH works, initially inspired by an early childhood memory of his grandmother’s window, have become his most conceptual body of work, encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, and filmmaking. YOUTH are stainless steel plates which have been indelibly altered by a chemical process involving heat and diamond dust, until a mirrored surface, at once translucent and iridescent, has been produced. The process was originally developed to reinforce parts for airplanes up to 200 times in order to withstand tremendous pressure, The coloration in many ways, is a byproduct of this process.
